Leaves turning early

Hey, landscape photo fans, it seems the autumn leaves are turning and it's still officially summer! Though the harvest moon tonight gets me more in the mood for fall. Did you know that the harvest moon is simply the closest full moon to the fall equinox? So that's Sept. 16 this year. I'm hoping the clouds will part for me to watch it rise.
Until I can get some moon shots, here's a landscape photo I took out at the Columbia Gorge this summer. Hope you enjoy!

Greetings, Readers!

Some gorgeous fall leaves out there. Hope you're getting your fill of them, as they won't be out for long! Of course, the wind and rainstorm today likely means many more will be on the ground, but it will still be pretty for another few weeks. I'll share a photo from my neighborhood. I love the reds and oranges, especially in the morning or evening light.

Greetings!

The glorious weather this weekend is making me long for the coast. I'm thinking back on a wonderful trip to Depoe Bay I took with a friend last August. Depoe Bay is just 2 hours or so from Portland, so not a bad drive. We timed it to watch the Perseid meteor shower in mid-month, but we were fogged in the entire time! We saw not one star... but we had a blast, traipsing all over that part of the coast. I especially loved our views of the Yaquina (pronounced ya-quine-ah) Head lighthouse in the fog. Such scenic landscape; can't wait to go back.

Don't forget the Lyrid meteor shower later this week, peaking on the early morning of April 23! I hope to be out at the Columbia Gorge to watch and photograph it. Ahhh!

Cheers!

Hello!

I'm a Portland, Oregon, writer and photographer, hoping to connect with folks who enjoy landscape and nature images. In this, my first post, I'd like to share a shot I took this week as a rainstorm was moving across the sky. The weather changes in Portland at this time of year can be so spectacular. If you walk away from the window for ten minutes and come back, the sky presents a completely new scene! Today, I'm hoping for a little thunder and lightning, so I can practice photographing it!

Hope you enjoy this.

Cheers!
